Hold on guys, ’cause we’re going to be dropping a bombshell. It is our pleasure to reveal to you our big surprise: Emily is currently en route to Europe for a summer of adventure!
Yep, that’s right. She’s up in the air now on a flight to the UK, where she will begin her 70 day journey across the world’s most historic and monumental cities. She will experience the joys of Europe in summer – the green pastures, the flowers and bumblebees, the lively restaurants, and the warm Mediterranean nights. Can you picture it?
This is just a teaser post to get you as excited as we are. Let’s have a quick look at what’s to come!
First stop: London
A whole week in London! What an amazing city. For hundreds of years people have called it the centre of the world. For good reason too, since most of our greatest inventions, architecture, legal, political and economic systems and scientific discoveries originated here. That’s before we even get to its landmarks! The city on the Thames is home to the British Royal Family, the Big Ben clock tower, Westminister Abbey, the Tower of London and the famous London Eye (among many others!). Em will see all of these during her solo week, as well as pay a visit to Brighton to meet with friends and explore the seaside city.
Next stop: Topdeck
Everyone is doing tours these days, and TopDeck is one of the biggest bus tour providers for people of 18-35 years. From London, Em embarks on TopDeck’s huge 36 day European Pioneer tour across 18 of Western Europe’s most beautiful countries. These include France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, and many more. While sightseeing is of course the primary goal of touring in groups, an unexpected joy is growing close to new friends, and sharing the journey together. We can’t wait to hear all the crazy adventure stories that come out of this epic month-long tour. You can check out the full tour map here.
Up next: Britain
Why are we back in the UK again? Wasn’t Em there to start with? It’s about time we dropped another huge bombshell:
Sam is joining the adventure! That’s right, after Sam explores a few cities in the middle east, Em & Sam will meet up and travel the UK together. Where will they go? Who knows – you’ll just have to read and find out!
Party stop over: Tomorrowland, Belgium
Against all odds, we managed to get tickets to Tomorrowland – one of the biggest music festivals in the world. It is held every year in Belgium, and this will be our next stop. We can’t tell you how excited we are to get festive and celebrate music, arts and culture with 120,000 other festival-goers. It’s just going to be wild! You can check out the festival at the official website, or see the festival line-up here.
Next off: Ireland
Em will be traveling to the Emerald Isle – a land home to stout-beer, leprechauns and the shamrock. Here in Ireland, she will meet familiar faces, long-lost relatives, and enjoy all Ireland has to offer.
Meanwhile Sam will spend some solo travel time in Western Europe. Where will he go?
Lisbon is a city neither of us have been to before! And that makes the famous Portuguese city very alluring. Keep reading to discover what places our journey takes us to in this city. We’ll tell you the best things to see, the best places to eat, and our all-time favourite things about the Portuguese capital.
Next stop: Morocco
In our minds, Morocco is a place shrouded in mystery. Aside from its gorgeous Islamic decorative styles, the colourful tesselated surfaces, sandy desert landscape and its unique spice culture, there is still a great deal that the two of us don’t know about the Moroccan way of life. So our time in this exotic land will be one of learning; of understanding a life that is completely different to our own. During our time, we will be visiting the cities of Marrakech, Casablanca, and Fes, so stay tuned for plenty of articles about our experience!
And finally: Paris
Our journey will come to an end here. Paris – like London – has been home to some of the world’s greatest moments in history. From the French revolution to the Anglo-french wars to World War II, this city has undoubtedly seen many rulers. But that’s not the true charm of Paris. It is a city of romance, and a city of art. This will be the end of our journey. But before we say goodbye, we will explore this European city one last time, and discover what lies at its heart.
